Is it possible to do the SAP HANA certification exam, e.g. C_HANATEC_12 without attending the related courses, e.g. HA100, HA200, HA240, and HA250?

Well, since your question is “is it possible…” then the short answer is yes.

The associates level if mainly text book level test - the main goals is to test if you know all the concepts, and relationship between components, etc. And it is mainly based on the text book.

So if you have really great hands-on experience, and very good at summarizing knowledge, and pretty much read the Installation, Upgrade, and Administration guides cover to cover, you should be able to pass those exams - most of the things you will learn in the courses you will find in the Admin/Install/Upgrade/SQL Reference guides. Course kind of pick out more important stuff and show it in more concise format.

On the other hand, if you are the type only read the chapters of the guides you needed at the moment, or use “search” more often than reading them page by page, then it is likely you will find the exams very “textbook-ish”, and likely you won’t come back and say “that was easy”.

So, I would say the courses are going to make your preparation easier, but you should be able to pass those exams without attending courses if you are the kind having photograph memory and read guides cover to cover.
