“Something’s not right.” With those three little words all the joy and anticipation of installing a new enterprise software package can turn into one of the lesser known circles of hell. When your processes are interrupted mistakes can (will) be made, things fall through the cracks and money, time and reputation can be lost. That’s how business process validation (BPV) came to be, to ensure things are up to snuff before new software is embedded in a company’s operation chain. BPV was the answer for a gap between quality assurance, which rakes through software code to fix bugs and errors during development, and the issues faced when the software is inserted into real work environments with their customizations and system quirks.
